(This is Brittany, Amy's Daughter) I was in kindergarten, when I first got my moms news. I remember it all, my gram crying, my mom crying, and me sitting there just thinking... am I going to grow up with a mommy or no? She had stage 3 brain cancer, and the doctors told her she only had 18 months to 2 years to live, but we got through it, together. I remember her coming home from the hospital with hair missing and white as a ghost with bags under her eye, and being so tired. I was scared to touch her because I didn't want to hurt her but she still looked beautiful. Since then she's had two more Brain Tumors and one is still with us now, but she is beautiful and so strong. I Love her so Much! We just celebrated her 12 years of remission. | Make a donation | Betsy - Miracle in Progress |  On April 5, 2013, Betsy Shulkosky had her first seizure during the night and they continued uncontrollably throughout the morning. It was discovered that Betsy had a large brain tumor and an emergency brain surgery was conducted that afternoon to remove part of the tumor. Betsy was diagnosed with Oligodendroglioma, Grade 2. Betsy is a loving mother, wife and friend to many and loved by all. She is just about to begin her treatment of the tumor and will require a lot of strength and support. Matt was diagnosed with a low-grade glioma in his right frontal lobe in November 2008. After a complete resection, he continued his life with his amazing attitude and huge heart completely intact. This past September, he discovered that his brain cancer had recurred as well as crossed over to his left side. Matt and Emilie, his fiancé, had been living and teaching in Florida until relocating to Pittsburgh in November. Pittsburgh is where Matt’s family lives; and fortunately, it is also where he is the first patient in Dr. Okada’s new low-grade vaccine trial at Hillman Cancer Center. They are hopeful that the trial will be a success and his tumor will remain stable until a cure can be found for this hideous disease. Matt and his family are also extremely grateful for the continuing support they’ve received from family and friends and are truly thankful for all of the wonderful caring people in their lives.
